Women in Video Games Panel : A successful second edition!

February 9, 2024

Women continue to make their mark in video games

Preamble

For the second year running, Beenox, the Quebec-based studio contributing to the success of Call of Duty®, hosted the "Femmes en jeu vidéo" event in Montreal. The event was held in partnership with La Guilde du Jeu Vidéo du Québec, in recognition of International Women's Rights Day. The theme of this year's panel was Career progression and corporate support.

The panel was made up of women who have made a significant impact on our industry: Marie Ramires Marques (Head of Talent Acquisition - Turbulent), Vivian Yen (Co-Founder, CEO and Producer - Ratloop Games Canada) and Marie-Eve Vignola (Director of Mobile Design - Beenox). This exchange was moderated by Madina Diabaté (HR Talent & Acquisition Consultant). Over the course of the evening, they shared their personal experiences. Futhermore, they gave the hundred participants the opportunity to discuss and learn about the different career paths open to women in video games.

"We also feel very blessed to have the privilege of celebrating International Women's Rights Day. I want to emphasize that it's International Women's Rights Day, because not all women have the same reality, the same daily life and access to the same privileges."
Béatrice Desjardins-Gagnon Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisor, La Guilde du Jeu Vidéo du Québec

Valuable advice

During the evening, the panelists offered valuable advice to those considering a career in this industry.

Beenox is keen to further develop its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). To reach this goal, the company plans to organize similar events and observe the positive impact they can generate. The Women in games panel aims to promote greater inclusion of women in the video game industry.

The event brought together over a hundred participants at Beenox in Montreal. Broadcast on Twitch, it encouraged exchanges and encounters.

Beenox would like to warmly thank the Guilde du Jeu Vidéo, the panelists, the moderator and the organizers.
